Inspection Services
Wood Destroying Organism Inspection: Also known as pest inspections, these inspections are performed to look for wood destroying organisms such as carpenter ants, termites and fungal rot, damage caused by the organisms, and conditions that could cause an infestation. Generally pest inspections are a "visual", and do not involve drilling or removing closed wall board in a search for such insects. Pest inspections are included with our pre-purchase inspections at no additional cost, or we can perform them separately.
Asbestos Sampling: Asbestos (Greek a-, "not"; sbestos, "extinguishable") is a group of fibrous metamorphic minerals. Asbestos was historically used for lamp wicks from which the name derives. It was also in fabrics such as Egyptian burial cloths and Charlemagne's tablecloth which legend says he threw in a fire to clean. The fibres are typically mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. It is used in buildings for its flame-retardant and insulating properties, its tensile strength, flexibility, and its resistance to chemicals, but is now known to be carcinogenic and is banned in many countries.
Water Sampling: Water is the universal solvent, and it has the capability of dissolving just about anything. Because of this unique property, water can easily become contaminated. Serious contaminates such as Lead and E. Coli Bacteria may be toxins affecting your family’s health. There four major testing categories that we can examine when doing a water test.
Septic Tank Testing: The things that are most obvious are the things seen every day - the sinks, toilets, and pipes in a normal house. What are not visible are the things that are underground; the things that are underground, and the ground itself, greatly impact how a septic system works. The individual parts of the system are the septic tank, a distribution box, and a leach field. Bacterial action takes place in the septic tank where the end products are mainly water, gases, and undigested material, called sludge that sinks to the bottom of the tank and scum that floats to the top of the tank.
Mold Screening: This screening assessess mold-related structural and health risks relating to a property provides the home buyer or home owner with important information about the condition of a home. A WIN home inspector assesses possible mold-related areas of concern in a home, which may include musty odors, defective caulking and evidence of prior water penetration.
